Where children are free to explore and create

Creative Makers

Creative spaces where children can explore, express and grow through art.

Creative Makers provides accessible, high-quality creative opportunities for children and young people, helping them develop artistic skills, confidence and wellbeing through practical engagement with the visual arts.

About Creative Makers

Hi, my name is Becca, and I am the founder of Creative Makers.

I am an experienced secondary school teacher, having taught and led departments in Art & Design, Textiles and Photography, with over 15 years of experience working with young people. Alongside my professional background, I am also a parent within the local school community, including raising a child with Autism and ADHD.

Both my professional experience and personal understanding of the challenges some children face within traditional learning environments have shaped the values and purpose behind Creative Makers. I am passionate about creating spaces where children feel safe, supported and able to express themselves creatively, particularly those who may benefit from smaller, more flexible environments.

Creative Makers currently supports 100's of children each year through workshops and creative programmes in the local community.

Creative Makers is a community arts organisation based in Frome, Somerset, delivering practical arts, craft and design workshops for children and young people. Our sessions focus on hands-on creative learning where participants can explore a wide range of artistic disciplines including drawing, painting, photography, textiles, sculpture and mixed-media making.

Creative Makers was originally established in September 2024, running after-school art workshops and holiday art clubs as a sole trader. Following the growth of the programme, Creative Makers CIC was incorporated in January 2026 to support the continued development and expansion of the organisation.

Our Approach

Our workshops provide calm, supportive spaces where young people can express themselves, be themselves and find their voice through the visual arts. Children are encouraged to experiment with materials, explore their ideas and develop creative confidence through making and creative play.

Creative Makers works with both small and larger groups, but always prioritises environments that feel safe, welcoming and supportive.

Our sessions are particularly well suited to children who may benefit from quieter, more flexible learning environments, including:

Neurodivergent learners
• Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
• Young people experiencing school-related anxiety
• Children with social or emotional needs
• Young people who may find traditional classroom environments challenging

Our sessions are child-centred and trauma-informed, allowing children to work at their own pace, make choices about their creative work and develop confidence through artistic exploration.

Creative Makers currently runs after-school workshops and holiday art clubs, supporting children and families across the local community.

Coming Soon – Creative Makers Studio

Creative Makers CIC is currently developing a dedicated creative studio space in Frome, which will allow us to expand our workshops and introduce new areas of creative practice including photography and textile design.

The new studio will also support the development of a daytime creative provision for children and young people who are unable to fully access mainstream education or who are struggling to engage within a traditional school environment.

Delivered in small groups within a calm and creative studio setting, this provision will support emotional regulation, confidence and communication through meaningful creative work.

The new studio provision is planned to launch in January 2027.

Parents, carers and professionals are welcome to get in touch to register interest or discuss suitability.
